Happy New Year from the Ulluminate team!

Welcome to our first news update of 2024. 

Thanks to all of you who were able to join us for our first Hogmanay Ceilidh to welcome in the new year. Ullapool village hall was filled with dance and bird-songs from the Gaelic Community Choir, thanks to funding from the British Science Association.

We have three more events planned in the lead up to our inaugural festival in May:

• CHASING THE LIGHTS : A talk by local aurora expert Tony Rickwood on his travails, successes and top tips to catch the elusive northern lights 

  Sunday 28th January, 7.30pm, Upstairs at Ullapool Ferry Terminal 

• DENMARK - THE STATE OF HAPPINESS: A screening of broadcaster and campaigner Lesley Riddoch's new film, which looks at models of technological innovation designed collaboratively with local communities

  Monday 19th February, 7.30pm, Upstairs at Ullapool Ferry Terminal  

• BUILDING SHORE STREET - AN ENGINEERING FEAT: Harbour Master Kevin Peach describes the planning and engineering behind the scenes of the redesign of Ullapool’s iconic Shore Street.

  Monday 11th March, 7.30pm, Upstairs at Ullapool Ferry Terminal 

All three events are ticketed but free with the option of a voluntary donation to help us fund future events.
